Ideas Matter

When you have a new idea and share it with an expert seeking their advice, a role-play game often unfolds. Conversations overlap, the statements of one are starters for those of the other. As both parties try to assert their respective viewpoints, the expert, as if by osmosis, will come to believe they originated that idea.

Perhaps, this happens because ideas, rather than to mammals, are more akin to fish. The idea is an egg that needs to be fertilized and the one who fertilizes is a parent.

Initially, the egg-idea was not aware of its own existence. It was passive and fragile; it could have been dismissed so easily, having just been evoked by a dreamer. However, it has also been fertilized by an expert, and this is what matters to the idea! It has been brought to life!

Now, it seeks to thrive, spread, and catch on in scientific debates, making a name for itself.

The idea surpasses the dreams of its inventor, outgrows the expert, and leaves its mark in the history of breast reconstruction.
